NB's Topball linear motion mechanisms utilize the rotational motion of ball elements to create a new paradigm in self-aligning bushings. Topball bushings feature an increased load capacity and prolonged travel life that is unmatched by other slide bushings. The secret lies with NB's unique precision ground load plate, which is designed to provide a circular arc of contact to the ball element. The load plates are thinner at their ends, providing a pivot point at their center; this allows the center of the bushing to act as a fulcrum to compensate for misalignments between the shaft and the bushing housing. This design results in a greater dispersion of the application’s load throughout the bushing. This unique feature enables Topball bushings to provide up to 3 times the load capacity and 27 times the travel life of conventional slide bushings.
Topball bushings meet high speed requirements up to 180m/min or 118in/sec, and can be integrated into many different applications - including factory automation equipment, machine tools, industrial machines, electrical equipment, and optical instruments. Topball bushings use the application’s round shaft as a guide, which results in effective space utilization.
